WHAT IS A.B.A.T.E.

A Association of
B Bikers for
A Awareness
T Training and
E Education

A.B.A.T.E. of Ontario Inc. is a motorcycle organization composed of motorcycle enthusiasts throughout the Province. Putting motorcycle legislation in its proper perspective is one of our main concerns. This is accomplished through safety education programs, public awareness programs and other proposals designed to prevent fatal or injury accidents.

A.B.A.T.E. is a neutral organization that allows all riders to unite in a brotherhood to safeguard our rights and still be individuals with different views.

A.B.A.T.E. feels that all motorcyclists are brothers and sisters with a common interest...riding free.

Some of the benefits to be gained by joining A.B.A.T.E. are:

1. Political power for opposing anti-motorcycle legislation, for support of programs that help, not hurt, motorcycling.
2. Monthly minutes and quarterly news letters to increase communications among motorcyclists.
3. Membership card and patch.
4. Participation in monthly meetings.
5. Participation with large groups of fellow riders in toy runs, memorial rides, swap meets and other service oriented functions.
The personal satisfaction of knowing you are promoting the great sport of motorcycling.

We would like to clarify some misconceptions that many people have regarding this organization and motorcyclists in general. We are not an "Outlaw Motorcycle Gang" but rather a Not for Profit Corporation. A.B.A.T.E. of Ontario was formed in 1988 and incorporated in 1990. The main purpose of the A.B.A.T.E. organization is to work toward continued freedom of the road by ensuring that the motorcyclist's point of view is presented to our legislators and we encourage all our members to be informed, registered voters. We e encourage new riders to take rider education courses offered by certified instructors.

We currently have 6 chapters in Ontario and welcome interested persons to any of our activities. Each chapter meets once a month to share their views, plan their events and discuss each individuals goals and objectives. We have events to raise money for our local charities and encourage participation.
